Keep Plastic Out of Our Water: Support M-151
Plastic pollution in aquatic environments poses a serious threat to the health and well-being of wildlife, our sensitive ecosystems, and our communities.
On November 2, 2017, my colleague MP Gord Johns put forward M-151, a motion in the House of Commons to address this critical issue. The motion aims to:
Create a permanent, dedicated, and annual funding for community led clean-up projects
Reduce consumer and industrial use of ‘single use’ plastics
Create a strategy to address cleanup of derelict fishing gear
Promote education and outreach campaigns on the root causes and negative environmental effects of plastic pollution
We need your help to keep plastics out of our water. Please add your name to our online petition. We also have a paper petition (below) that you can share. Together can raise our voices to create a plan that ends plastics in our waters.
