Statement from Alistair MacGregor - September 18, 2017
September 18th, 2017 - 5:45pm
Parliament resumes this week, and MPs have returned to Ottawa from their constituencies to debate the important federal issues that are occupying our country presently.
Unfortunately, I am unable to be in the House of Commons on your behalf at this time. As some of you will know, my wife and I are expecting our third child later this fall, but significant and serious pregnancy complications requiring ongoing hospitalization have placed some difficult strains on our family, and I need to be here in support, especially for my twin five-year-old daughters.
My aim is to return to my House of Commons duties in Ottawa after Thanksgiving. My MP colleagues have been fantastic in supporting my Ottawa workload during this difficult time, and rest assured, both constituency offices are open, and my entire team is in contact with me daily and still working each weekday to assist you in any federal government enquiries you may have. Thanks to the wonderful support of family and friends here at home, I am still still conducting my constituency work, closely liaising with my Ottawa colleagues, and contributing to my Justice Critic portfolio as best I can by distance.
I take my job as your Member of Parliament very seriously, and I work hard to ensure your concerns are well represented in Ottawa. I thank you for your understanding and respect of the privacy of this difficult family matter during this time, and I will be back as soon as I am able.
